Baby Vaccination
Upon discharge of the baby, the nurse will give you a stack of documents. Esp important is the baby health booklet, it keep the growth information of your baby and the vaccinations that the baby needs till he/she is 12 yr old.
For convenience, you may want to opt for the 6-in-1 jab, which has a total of 3 jabs, spreading out fr 1st-6th months. This will also reduce the no. of jabs to be given to a baby.
The first jab is usually done at birth, which is the BCG and Hep B.
For the 6-in-1 jab:
This is required by SG Health regulation, so don't argue, just pay for the vaccine and deal with it!
This bacteria will cause an infection to the respiratory tract or ear, resulting in pneumonia and ear infection. Hence it's up to the parents if they want to proceed to give this vaccine to the baby. This is optional jab, and you will have to request for it on the 2nd jab of 6-in-1, 3 months fr the birth date.

Symptoms after the vaccine
The baby will be feverish after the vaccine.
Tips to prevent high fever:
Tip #1 :
Right after the vaccine, you can give 1 dose of the panadal suspension(usually given by the PD/doctor). Follow the dosage advised by the doctor. Baby at different age is given different dosage level.
*Note: Baby < 3 months, he/she will not know how to swallow the medicine.
Tip #2:
Before his intake of milk, pour 1 oz of his milk to a separate bottle, add in the medicine with the milk and give the baby to drink, following up the remaining milk in the other bottle.
Yes, the doctor usually will advise to give the panadal suspension if the baby has fever. By then the fever will have developed, kind of abit too late, and you will start panicky and will need to sponge the little fellow too!
