Rev See Retirement Thankgiving Service
As we move to the end of 2013, it's also the last year Rev See going to serve in TA and TA2. Today, the entire Theye family are going for Rev See Retirement Thank-giving service at 5pm.
Prior to service, my sister-in-law(SIL,Jane) called to look for my Mother-in-law(MIL). And my hubby picked the phone and said: " you are not going for the service later ah!". My next reaction is ..."if she don't go, she will be so dead!" Of cos, my SIL did turn up for the service, cos she knows that if she don't go, my MIL will be angry and don't talk to her for a long time! This is the power of my MIL.
So Mrs See, you can "pang xin".
Even when i thou of "bo cheng hu" in TA2, i can skip service at times, but i think MIL will ensure the 2 JJ are growing up in TA, just like the Daddy Theye. So seriously...MRS SEE ... "PANG XIN"...OK!
As the JJ did not have their afternoon nap, they slept along the way to the service. So we were able to catch the sermon and the appreciation speeches by some of the TA 长老们. As usually, I enjoyed Dr Ang's speech, never failed to add a touch of humor. As for Prof Tan, he is always a knowledgeable person to me, and once again i just felt impressed by him once again.
As Joy woke up and started to make noise in the sanctuary, i had to move to the back of the church, and saw KK's dad. And the screen was showing the video of Rev See's service, and it showed the no. of people he baptised , no of funeral wakes held by him. Then KK's dad turned and said to me in hokkien: "wow, 650 个人死在牧师手里! Hhahah...Laugh die me!
Oops...I realised i have not mentioned about Rev See. ... Back to Rev See. What's I remember about him:
1. He is always a fatherly figure to me, and always a gentle guy. But then...
Sam share to me after a church recce trip," Dear, you know what, Rev See is like me, he will be angry when he is hungry". So he is not so gentle when he is hungry! hahaha...
2. He really works 24x7. 365 days, + when he is sick. He don't work on Sunday only!
Yes, he never fails to response when church member call him in the middle of the nights( shared by many church members already). I remember when my father in law was in the hospital, Rev See went to visit him once he knew about it. And when my father-in-law told us that Rev See came, we thou he was hallucinating cos Rev See was supposed to return from some oversea trips that very day!
During John & Joy 1st year old birthday, Rev See was sick and had diarrhea for the past 2-3 days. But he still turned up with Mrs See to the kids' party to bless them. So I felt touched and guilty at the same time.
3. He is a good pastor and a good hubby, so a testimony for me.
Shared by Dr Ang and Prof Tan as well, yes, Rev See went ahead to proceed with TA2 dedication even when there was a 2+ million debt to pay. Also, during a few sermons he shared that many of the members kept coming up to him and say "不可能", he did not tell the members off but just told them to keep that in prayer! Of cos, i have my doubts too! And indeed, the dedication service proceed as the debts were paid off! Praise the Lord.
Usually after the 11am Hokkien service at TA2, the pastoral team has to rush down to TA for the next 1pm service. Rev See will be "kan cheong", taking his things and wanting to go down to TA while Mrs See will be busy talking to the ladies in church. Of cos he never rush Mrs See, just tell her gently that he goes down to carpark first. So Mrs See, don't be so "social-butterfly" haha...
