Afterthought of Melbourne Trip
It's has been a half year since our trip to Melbourne. But I still remember clearly how my lil Joy was able to enjoy herself throughout the trip, and how I could have better handle John who was just recovering from a stomach flu.
Prior to flying to Melbourne, I was home looking after John who was suffering from stomach flu. And the decision back then was to postpone the trip or to proceed. Of cos we were praying hard for John to recover and Aunt Ayu was always there to massage John's tummy to release the toxic gas. Really Thank God that the puking stopped and the diarrhoea has more or less stopped.
On board the plane, the kids were able to sleep through after the milk feed. We were quite worried over the long flight and it's JJ first time on board the airplane. By the time the kids were settled and I thou i was able to get some sleep, the pilot told us we will be in Melbourne in 5 hours time! I forgot about the different time zones hence I was quite zombie on Day 1. And of cos John was quite sticky to me and I kind of get frustrated as I need to guide Ah Dear on the directions as well as on the admin stuff.
Anyway, below are my memories on the trip about my 2 little cuties!
About Joy
Generally, girls develop faster. So Joy was independent enough, to follow Xiao-gu. She enjoyed shopping at Queen Victoria Market. She enjoyed chasing the birds at the State library and running around with her Gor Gor.
AT GOR, she was so busy playing the sand with her Gor Gor while the adults were busying taking pic. She was brave enough to follow Mummy on the tractor, and Uncle Warren on the motorbike. She enjoyed being the little helper at the farm, feeding the animals and washing the pigs' sty.
And she knew who to approach to get her fave drinks from the supermart- Coles. And Joy was to eat by herself when we had dinner with Teo's family at Chinatown. During the Tulip festival, she requested for the face painting and chose her fave Character - Frozen. And when i was asking the painter how to remove, Joy insisted she keep the face paint till she is back in SG to show Aunt Ayu. Hence I told her to take pic and whatapps to Aunt Ayu instead.
During the flight back, my dear Joy was able to buckle herself with seat belt, and enjoyed the pack of peanuts while watching her show. Seriously no one will know it's was her first flight as she looks like a season traveller! I guess you ate up all the walnuts when Mummy was pregnant with you guys! Too Smart!
About John
Mummy was worried over the food, esp you have just recovered from the stomach flu. But you was not a fussy eater like your sister, you are a happy boy as long as there is french fries! You tend to cry and scream when you are hungry. I guess you inherit this bad habit from your Daddy, hence no comments on this.
I remember one incident very clearly. You were running with your sister at State Library before running to Mummy that you want to poo poo. And of cos, my first reaction, oh my.. HOW! So i pulled you to a corner. I guess it's was cold that evening, below 10 degrees. But Mummy has no choice but to pull your jeans and wear a diaper for you in the public. You did not complain a word of being naked in the public or cry as it's was really cold. And like your sister often to say "Thank Goodness!". And thank you for yr Daddy, who reacted fast enough to find a toilet. And of cos, Mummy has a tedious task trying to clean you up in the toilet, esp you actually LS on the diaper! I did not scold you as I know it's not your fault. Hence I'm impressed by myself on handling you and how my patience has improved through you guys.
Oh, Mummy was impressed by how you can endure the cold! At times, you refuse to wear your jacket. Inherited from Daddy too, cos your daddy loves cold weather just like u! Also you have an OCD of pulling yr jacket sleeves before you wash your hands. You insisted Mummy to clean off the mud that stick to your shoes at the Tulip festival!
By the mid of the trip, you have recovered and was able to enjoy yourself better. Enjoyed the sand in GOR, enjoyed eating pototoes chips in the car, enjoyed the rich chocolate ice cream Mummy bought at the Apollo Bay, enjoyed watching the penguins walking back to their holes ( with Daddy), enjoyed the chocolate drink.
Although you are sticky and I get frustrated at times, I enjoys each moment with you, my dear son. Cos I believe you will probably not want to stick to me once you are a bigger boy!
End of the day, it was tiredness for Mummy and Daddy, but we both did not regret. We are glad the entire family enjoyed the trip. And let hope we have more family trips.
Of cos not forgetting our Dear Lord who has guided us along the trip, and always protects and bless us! Amen.
But as for me and my household,we will serve the Lord.”
