As agreed with Wendy the previous night, we have to be up at the paddlock to feed the animals at 9.30am. The usual time for feeding is 8.30am, she mentioned that she knows that Singaporeans like to sleep late, so she make some adjustment! hahah!
So at abt 9am, each of us went into the storeroom to grab a pair of boots before hopping up in the car and headed toward the paddlock area. There is another house, which is home for Warren and Wendy! The animals started to move in to us when Warren passed a bottle of milk to us. That's the food for the sheep. Following which, they had prepared packs of apples and carrots to feed the deer and many other animals, such as Alapacas, camel. Interestingly, they even had a small pushcart for the kids to pull and push, loading them with food of the animals. John and Joy are the newly recruited helpers to the farm! And I simply love my kids in the boots! So cute!
After the feeding, Warren drove Joy and I using a tractor, while the rest followed Wendy on a 4-wheel car down to the pasture where the cows are kept. And we get to see a herb of cows come toward us, as the tractor was loaded with hays(food for the cows). Ah Ping and my mum-in-law chose to stay in the car, as they are quite scared of the cows! And some of the cows keep passing motion while eating! hahaha!
Next, we headed back to the padlock and Warren drove out an motorbike asking if John will like a ride on it. Instead of John, Joy hopped onto the bike and off she goes! I guess Joy has inherited her mummy genes of being adventurous! And my dear John who is the introvert, prefer music and feeding the animals.
After the feeding, we decided to head down to Cobden, a small town. And Wendy advised that we can get pretty good fish and Chip at the town. So we headed back to the house to do a quick clean-up. While the 2 aunties were having a quick bite, I bathed the 2 kids before driving down to Cobden. By the time we reached the town, the 2 kids were asleep. I guess they are tired after working hard at the farm. We bought a family pack + 2 burgers. There was a shelter area at the Cobden Miniature train, so we had our lunch there.
After which we paid $2.50 per head for the train ride. I must say the ride was worth more than $2.50 comparing to pay $2 for the kids' rides in the shopping malls! And of cos the train ride in Vivo city that cost me $6, sigh.. this ride is so much impressive!!! But then .. i guess they have the space while SG.. we have limited space + 6 million population! As usual, Joy enjoyed the train ride and requested for 2nd round with her Xiao-Gu, while i accompanied John at the playground.
Next, we drove back to 12 Apostles, to head down to Gibson Steps and London Bridge. This is to fulfill my Ah dear, who only did a pitstop at 12 Apostles Visitor Center and headed back to Melbourne city. I told him, the coastline has more interesting pit stops!
At Gibson Steps, John and Joy had fun playing with sand, building their sand castles. And they said: "cold!"... then i touched the sand..Yes indeed, you can feel the cold and fine sand! While the kids were busy with sand, the adults were busy with taking pictures! After the Gibson Steps, we headed to London Bridge, which got the name cos part of the rock collapsed back in 1990's. The view was awesome esp it's was near to sunset when we were there.
Next we headed down to Port Campbell for dinner. As it's a small town, so the choice of food is limited as well. So we had pizza and pasta at Nico Plaza. As we chose to sit inside, Ah dear did not enjoy the food as it was quite stuffy in the restaurant as the heater was on and it was crowded. And Ah dear asked " why don't we sit outside". I wanted to do so, but then Ah Ping was the first one to dash into the restaurant as she can't stand the cold outside. Probably it was quite packed, the pizza served was abit "chao-ta" and we paid > $120 for 3 dishes. Abit not worth it!
After reaching back home, the kids have fun drawing at the black board outside the house. Wendy even prepared the chalks and cloth. Really appreciated the effort by the farm stay hosts. Seem Small but it take a lot of thought behind it! Also the playground.. I did not managed to snap some picture of JJ playing in the playground during the noon time! Wasted!
Anyway, the farm was a enjoyable stay for the family. For those who are interested in the farm stay you can visit their their website and email to Wendy.
